Vacancy exists for a Planner reporting to the Superintendent: Asset Management. The successful incumbent will be in charged with responsibility to develop short-, medium- and long­ term plans that will improve the availability, reliability, and operability of equipment for the plant equipment in their area of responsibility, then carrying out the planning of the maintenance activities to the scheduling stage by identifying all required resources to complete the activity.


Key Performance Areas:

  • Complying with all standards and providing input as required into training and investigation of accidents;
  • Providing input in identifying HSE hazards and incorporates mitigation actions;
  • Working constructively with other functions or departments and Increase effectiveness as a team member;
  • Reviewing the primary maintenance forecast, plans and items;
  • Creating work orders and determining the scope of work, reviewing asset life cycle plan and future work to confirm scope is aligned with tactics;
  • Confirm resources and spares parts (stock and non-stock) for planned work by managing work order status;
  • Reviewing commitment to planned item, enter tentative start dates and code work order as “Ready for Scheduling’’;
  • Reviewing work request work orders for discrepancies from planned work;
  • Analysing equipment performance, conditions, costs OEM’s recommendations, communicating with production and maintenance personnel;
  • Analysing current work practices and come up with maintenance improvement initiatives for production levels, safety and reducing costs;
  • Developing failure analyses, component tracking and warranty management program and systems and recommending maintenance strategies based on analyses;
  • Effective control of activities within the sections.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 and a recognized Trade Diploma (Qualified Artisan) – Mechanical or Electrical OR T3/N6 Technical Diploma – Mechanical or Electrical with Five (5) years’ experiences (excluding apprenticeship) in the mechanical or electrical trade within the mining environment..
  • Planning experience will be an added advantage.
  • Code B/BE Driver’s License
  • Police Certificate of conduct of not older than six (6) months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates

  • Basic knowledge of RUL mine operation
  • Good computer skills (MS Projects, MS Office and SAP).
