Responsible for the long term and short term maintenance planning in terms of planning, resourcing, scheduling and co-ordination of maintenance work for maintaining and enhancing equipment reliability, using the most cost-effective methods to minimize risk and rework in the area of responsibility.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Implement the required changes to work packages or master data.
  • Check for the correct manning requirements on work order operations.

  • Responsible for data control, including the accurate recording, storage, retrieval and management of a variety of information and records.
  • Establish and maintain a database of all tasks to be used to compile the weekly plan, benchmark current work standards and optimise work performance.
  • Co-ordinate and control spares, critical stock and component control requirements.
  • Ensure technical availability of equipment to achieve optimal efficiencies of equipment and systems.
  • Comply to design specifications and maintain records of all required documentation.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 with 20 points..
  • Recognized N3 Trade Certificate in relevant field.
  • Minimum 7 years post trade maintenance experience in the mining industry, of which 3 years should be in the maintenance planning environment.
  • Sound knowledge and experience in Standard Work Procedures and technical work instructions.
  • Basic CMMS experience and SAP Maintenance or maintenance related systems.
  • Good understanding of standards and specifications for equipment and spares.
  • Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The primary responsibility will be to analyze and assess the geological conditions of mining sites to ensure the safe and efficient extraction of mineral resources. You will play a crucial role in identifying potential geotechnical risks, developing mitigation strategies, and providing geotechnical expertise to support mining operations. Being responsible for the day to day operations involved in the managing of geotechnical risks on site.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Collect and interpret the slope monitoring data and report monitoring results and the implications of deviation from expected movement.
  • Assess the integrity of the soil, rocks and other natural conditions prior major construction projects.
  • Plan the boreholes, supervise the drilling and sample collection.
  • Carry out various mapping techniques i.e. Scanline, window and traverse mapping.
  • Conduct drone survey of high wall or face mapping.
  • Inspect and monitor active mining areas and provide an inspection report with actions to be addressed where applicable.
  • Design a cost effective pit slope with minimal waste stripping.
  • Conduct engineering geology duties and surface investigative programs.
  • Conduct kinematic and stability analysis according to design standards, and provide design recommendations.
  • Conduct Geotechnical stability assessments and provide design recommendations to operations.
  • Facilitate geotechnical input into planning models and checks that blast design incorporate consideration of geotechnical input to minimise wall damage.
  • Check and verify that all designs comply with the minimum geotechnical design standards/guidelines on inter ramp and overall slope angles, bench face angles and berm widths.
  • Ensure that the instruments and field equipment maintained, and carry out necessary operational maintenance schedules.
  • Interpret ground water pressures and water levels related to slope stability

Requirements and experience:

  • BSc. Degree in Geological Engineering or BSc. Geology degree with a post graduate Geotechnical qualification or equivalent.
  • 3 years’ open pit mining working experience.
  • Basic user of Rocscience (Slide, Swedge, Rocplane, RS2, Dips), Leapfrog or equivalent 3D geological software.

About the Company

Debmarine Namibia recovers diamonds in the offshore recovery licence area off the southern coast of Namibia and operates six diamond recovery vessels and one exploration and sampling vessel.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS::

Debmarine Namibia requires the services of a Plant Fitter. The successful incumbent will provide support by conducting inspections, repairs, and maintenance work on the vessels and reliably delivering the right work at the right time. The incumbent will be required to spend 28 days at sea followed by 28 days ashore and will be required to undertake the following activities

  • Conducts repairs and service maintenance work on equipment and machinery
  • Installs and commissions plant equipment
  • Conducts running inspections, checking all plant equipment and structures performance, diagnosing faults, and implementing corrective action to resolve problems
  • Performs scheduled and planned maintenance on the treatment plant equipment, e.g., pumps, screens, feeders, winches, conveyor belts, magnetic separators, cyclones, etcetera
  • Carries out work processes and monitors progress in order to improve efficiency and minimise delays
  • Provides accurate information and feedback in accordance with laid down planned maintenance standards i.e. unit members, work performed, spares used, and causes of failure
  • Reports on all technical matters and deviations to the supervisor and gives feedback on the accuracy of all technical documentation
  • Supports materials management in achieving availability of materials, spares, and components at all times in order to minimise downtime
  • Attends to abnormalities and updates technical work logs with detailed information
  • Submits work requests for approvals as per the Operating Model Principles
  • Liaises with supervisor on the delivery of requirements for every work package that is to be completed at the scheduled time as per the Operating Model Principles

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 with pass marks in English, Math, and Science; and
  • Qualified Artisan with Trade Certificate (Fitter and Turner) from a recognized institution.
  • Three (3) years post-qualification experience as an Artisan.
  • Knowledge of SAP will be an added advantage.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 certificate;.
  • A recognized Bachelor’s/ BTech BSc Mechanical/Mechatronic/Electrical Engineering Degree incumbents (NQF Level 7-8) with a minimum of five (5) years post qualification working experience as a Mechanical/ Mechatronic / Electrical Engineer in the heavy industry or mining or processing environment; OR

Job description

 

Duties & Responsibilities  
  • Design and optimise stopes based on drilling results as well as economic, operational and geotechnical factors for optimum reserve extra
  • Design development and auxiliary infrastructure that supports optimum operations.
  • Develop and update ore and waste rock dump designs.
  • Plan, schedule, track, and coordinate long-term production schedules incorporating all related underground mining and support activities, including diamond drilling, blast schedules, advance rates, equipment availability, utilisation, backfill, dewatering, ground support, ventilation and construction.
  • Identify and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Guide contractor to achieve contractual and budget operations and safety targets.
  • Compare actual excavations to design and identify deviations and causes and minimise these through appropriate interventions or design changes.
  • Do weekly and monthly production reconciliations (design vs actual vs Budget) of operations and guide operations to achieve MTP and budget.
  • Assist with the compilation of the operational budget.
Safety, Health and Environment
  • Compliance with the B2Gold Golden Rules, Code of Conduct and all Policies
  • Comply with the Namibian Mining Act (Labour Act, Ordinance, Minerals Act, Explosives Act) and Regulation’s clauses that apply to designated work areas.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum seven years of experience as a mechanised hard-rock underground mine engineer with at least three years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge, expertise and understanding of underground mine design, mine and production optimisation, production planning and ventilation design.·
  • Valid Code BE driver’s licence
  • Excellent knowledge of mine design and scheduling software: MineSight, Deswik, Vulcan, Mine 2-4d, EPS Scheduler, etc.
