To assist with the day-to-day operations within the Packaging department by collecting and counting crates, checking best before dates on packaging material and pack finished products, to ensure that daily planned production is achieved.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Receive daily production plan from machine Operator or Technical operator
  • Collect crates according to production plan
  • Check that crates provided to production lines are clean and undamaged
  • Report damaged crates to Team Leader Packaging
  • Pack finished products in crates
  • Perform spot checks on finished products to verify that right flavour is packed in the right packaging material
  • Handle finished goods with caution to avoid damages to the packaging material
  • Perform daily stock counts of finished products and submit count sheet to Team Leader
  • Clean packaging area of work during and after production in line with the “clean as go” principle.
  • Report safety incidents to Team Leader Packaging and Occupational Health and Safety Officer.

  • Grade 12
  • 1 Year experience in a similar position

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To pasteurize, homogenize by-products, cream, juices and attend to the primary process of fresh milk according to recipes and set standards and work instructions, while adhering to Health & Safety and Hygiene principles. Adhere to Good manufacturing practices and ISO standards to execute the production plan effectively and efficiently by communicating and execute production schedules, commit to continuously improving the current process, and give feedback on challenges, monitoring quality standards and ensure correct completion of documents while focusing on reducing waste. Ensure strict adherence to procedures to ensure product quality consistency and shelf life.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Inspect machinery and equipment before start-up and record results on production sheet.
  • Inspect silos and holding/mixing tanks and verify that CIP has been performed and record information.
  • Keep the production sheet correctly filled in at all times.
  • Do milk stock control on a daily basis and reconcile figures with prod. Administrators.
  • Order stock from procurement on a daily basis through prod. Administrators.
  • Take samples of by-products, raw milk and juice to the lab for testing.
  • Check that all flow meters are on Zero before pasteurization.
  • Record temperatures of pasteurizer on production sheet and start the production process.
  • Pasteurize all required products as per production plan.
  • Pasteurize raw milk as per sequence of FIFO into silos.
  • Check that silos do not run empty or tanks overflow.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Monitor fats, total solids, allergen, cryoscope and other related items as they associate with processing dairy products.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Monitor the Production Cooler and ensure recon takes place to avoid raw material write off.
  • Take samples as required by sampling plan or requested by laboratory.
  • Record all CIP/COP records on production sheet and issue to Team Leader processing.
  • Clean work area according to the “clean as you go” principle.
  • Lead the team in the absence of the Team Leader.
  • Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • A minimum of a 3 years working experience in a Production Plant and Machine Operation.

Duty Description

Slaughtering of lamb carcasess for export quality. This is an on the line, slaughter floor position.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Skin sections of animals or whole animals.
  • Slit open, eviscerate, and trim carcasses of slaughtered animals.
  • Trim head meat, and sever or remove parts of animals’ heads or skulls.
  • Trim, clean, and/or cure animal hides.
  • Wrap dressed carcasses and/or meat cuts.
  • Tend assembly lines, performing a few of the many cuts needed to process a carcass.
  • Slaughter animals in accordance with specified religious standards (Halaal).
  • Cut, trim, skin, sort, and wash viscera of slaughtered animals to separate edible portions from offal.
  • Saw, split, or scribe carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling.
  • Sever jugular veins to drain blood and facilitate slaughtering.
  • Shackle hind legs of animals to raise them for slaughtering or skinning.

To plan, execute and supervise all activities around finished/invoiced orders in the Distribution department and to ensure efficient movement of orders in line with Distribution schedule.
