Factory Manager at Hartlief Continental Meat Products

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Is responsible for the day-to-day management of Hartlief factory, this includes the following tasks: management of factory activities in line with demand planning; production; packaging; quality adherence; management of plant efficiency and loss control and is responsible for normal line management functions with regards to people, finances, reporting and process improvement and optimisation.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure accurate and effective implementation and management of strategies in processed meat production as approved by management.
  • Manage the Production, Packaging and Planning Processes and Systems ensuring the deliverance of constant quality products and minimizing Production losses in line with set targets and budgets.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of activities related to the Processing and Packaging processes and systems in line with set targets and budgets.
  • Introduce production efficiencies in the organization to reduce cost of production.
  • Develop and execute a production strategy that increases manpower productivity and increase final product quality consistently.
  • Assist with the setting, maintenance/adherence, improvement and implementation of Quality Standards in all areas of the factory in line with set targets and budgets.

  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting on activity report, OPS, critical success factors, costs etc to be submitted to the Head Operations.
  • Develop, gain approval, implement, manage and improve all processes and procedures within the department.
  • Line management functions in line with O&L Breakthrough strategy, but not limited to: Communication, leadership, mentoring, training, performance management, work schedules, leave planning etc.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • 3-year Diploma/ 4 years Degree in Production/Operations Management or Industrial Engineering
  • 5-8 years’ experience in FMCG, of which at least 3 years should be on a managerial level.
  • Meat technology or Fleischmeister Diploma and meat industry experience is an added advantage.
