Forensics and Compliance Officer – Sanlam Namibia

What will you do?

The Compliance Officer will play a key part of Sanlam Personal Portfolios, by assisting to manage compliance risks. The position requires, amongst others, providing compliance related advice and recommendations to the Business Unit, draft documents & reports and interpreting legislation.

 

What will make you successful in this role?

  • Interpret legislation, regulations, guidance notes, and directives to identify and assess compliance risks.
  • Draft documents, processes, policies, and procedures to address compliance risks.
  • Implement processes, policies, procedures, and controls to effectively manage compliance risks.
  • Ensure that compliance processes, policies, procedures, and controls are maintained.
  • Consult with and provide recommendations to the Business Unit to sufficiently address compliance deficiencies.
  • Monitor and report on compliance risks.
  • Conduct transaction monitoring.
  • Attend to certain compliance reporting.
  • Engage with auditors and attend to compliance-related aspects in audit reports.
  • Engage with regulators, attend inspections, and respond to enquiries, questionnaires, and reports.
  • Ensure that Business Unit staff complete compliance-related training and assessments.

Qualification and Experience

  • Grade 12.
  • Bachelor Degree in Law.
  • Admitted Attorney (would be an advantage).
  • Experience in compliance risk management environment (would be an advantage).
  • Diploma/Certificate in Compliance Management (would be an advantage).
  • Certificate in Anti-money Laundering Controls (would be an advantage).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge and insight of legislation and compliance risk management (would be an advantage).
  • Absolute proficiency in English (verbal and written) – An additional local Namibian language will be a competitive advantage.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong administrative and operational skills and knowledge.
  • Proactive, problem-solving, and goal-oriented.
  • Computer literate: MS Office Suite and company’s software.
  • Detail-oriented, good interpersonal skills, and good at time management and multitasking.
  • Administrative-oriented and skilled at problem identification and problem-solving.
  • Proactive, tactful, and polite.
  • Accurate, organised, and client service-focused.
