Pick n Pay Namibia has been a significant player in the country’s retail sector since its establishment in 1997. As a franchise of the South African-based Pick n Pay Stores Ltd., the Namibian operations were managed by the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group, a prominent Namibian conglomerate. The first store opened in Wernhil Park, Windhoek, marking the beginning of a 27-year partnership that saw the expansion to 22 stores across Namibia .In a strategic shift, the O&L Group announced the termination of its franchise agreement with Pick n Pay, effective 30 June 2025. This decision led to the rebranding of all Pick n Pay stores in Namibia to the Model brand, a name that holds historical significance as it was O&L’s original supermarket brand established in the 1960s
