PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, coordinate and execute the ICT support function at the Port of Luderitz to ensure optimal performance and alignment with business objectives. This function includes providing advanced user support, troubleshooting, and training, as well as overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software to support efficient business operations, for organisational success. This role reports directly to the Manager: ICT Operational Support Services and supervises the work of an ICT Technician.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Accountable for service availability and reliability through the delivery of day-to-day ICT support services to end-users at the Port of Lüderitz.
- Monitor and optimise the performance of ICT systems and infrastructure at the Port of Lüderitz.
- Conduct risk assessments using methodologies to identify risks, evaluate their probability and impact, and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to determine and understand business requirements.
- Deploy, monitor, maintain, upgrade, and support all ICT equipment.
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect against internal and external threats.
- Monitor and maintain acceptable levels of Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Operational Level Agreements (OLAs), policy adherence, and audit compliance.
- Coordinate and implement ICT infrastructure, including networks, servers, telecommunication, operational equipment, cloud computing systems, and support services.
- Implement robust strategies/plans for ICT Operational Support Services to improve service delivery processes and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate the procurement, maintenance, utilization, and disposal of ICT equipment.
- Plan and execute complex technical projects within the ICT domain.
- Research and recommend benchmarked initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Identify improvements to streamline processes within ICT Operational Support Services, effectively reducing operational redundancies and enhancing overall efficiency.
- Promote a culture of excellence within the division to ensure systems and services are delivered in a manner that enhances customer and employee satisfaction.
- Accountable for efficient and effective operations of the ICT function at the Port of Lüderitz.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- A Bachelor’s Degree [NQF Level 7] in PC Engineering, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science, or equivalent.
- Certification in Cloud technologies, Microsoft/IT Support qualifications (e.g., CompTIA A+/N+), Project Management, Governance, and Service Level Management will be an advantage.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant technical experience in the ICT sphere, of which two (2) years should have been in a position of responsibility.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Analytical, creative, innovative, and solutions-oriented.
- Proven experience in driving process improvements and optimizing service delivery workflows.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, demanding, and high-performance work environment.
- Advanced project management and computer skills.
- Must be versatile, flexible, and decisive.
