NAMIBIAN PORTS AUTHORITY
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To execute general mooring service duties and assist the Assistant/ Berthing Masters with the supply of commodities to vessels. The position reports to the Assistant Berthing Master.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Performing general maintenance duties, including but not limited to the following:
- Ensuring cleanliness, tidiness, and safety of the work environment.
- Reporting defects to the supervisor.
- Greasing of equipment.
- Cleaning of components to be assembled.
- Dismantling minor jobs for checking and assembling by Assistant/Berthing Master.
- Changing pipes/hoses as instructed by Assistant/Berthing Master.
- Ensure mooring or unmooring vessels timeously as per Assistant/Berthing Master’s instructions.
- Supply water to vessels and assist in recording amounts and obtaining signatures from the vessel.
- Ensure housekeeping by cleaning the mess room, courtyard, and emptying waste bins.
- Maintain official vehicles by completing the daily checklist, driving/operating, and cleaning vehicles.
- Deliver and collect mail to and from offices or operational areas.
- Move and store heavy items delivered to the office.
- Assist in the warping of the vessels to a new position.
- Safekeeping of material, equipment, and tools.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
- One (1) year relevant work experience.
- Valid DMA medical fitness certificate.
- Must be trustworthy, complemented by good time management ability.
- Must possess a good command of basic communication skills.
- Must be analytical and highly attentive to details.
- Code BE Driver’s License will be an added advantage.
- Candidate must be in good health and physically and mentally fit.
