Chief Scientist (D5) – CITY of WINDHOEK

To ensure that no waterborne diseases are caused through the supply of drinking water and no pollution of ground water takes place. To provide professional analytical quality assurance and research service in the water, wastewater, health and environmental sector according to national and international guidelines or standards. Assist with the planning of medium and long term water and wastewater project.

• Plan and organise the work program of the division.
• Plan, organise and direct the work program of Process Control, Chemistry and Microbiology Sections.
• Plan, organise and direct the work program of LIMS Administration and Quality Assurance Sections.
• Communicate with stakeholders: plan and coordinate projects, report or present analytical or research findings.

Four (4) years BSc Degree in Chemistry, or Microbiology, or Biochemistry, or Environmental Science or a directly related field with specialisation in Laboratory management, water and wastewater treatment and operation practices. A minimum period of ten (10) years of work experience in water quality monitoring and analysis, of which six (6) years are in laboratory management. Code B Driver’s license.
