Engineer Mining: Load and Haul (Shift Controller) – Fixed Term Contract 1 (2472)

Vacancy exists for an Engineer Mining: Load and Haul (Shift Controller) reporting to the Superintendent: Load and Haul. The successful incumbents will be responsible for providing mining engineering solutions in terms of load and hauling, Mine Monitoring systems efficiencies, planning and coordinating of mining activities to reduce production delays, improve efficiencies to meet the overall objectives of the mining production department.

Key Performance Areas

•  Participating in HSE programmes and setting targets where applicable;
•  Implementing and co-ordinating production plans by optimizing and improving load and haul processes;
•  Ensuring quality of haul roads, dumping and tipping areas for safe tramming and tipping and reclamation.
•  Executing weekly and monthly plans to achieve quality, volume, financial and resource requirements as well as equipment utilization;
•  Liaising with the Operations Foremen for production start-up, operation, and stoppage outside and within Pit Control area;
•  Continuously monitoring production performance to ensure shift objectives are met and handover to the next shift is properly prepared;
•  Supporting Asset Health Evaluator’s real-time monitoring of equipment;
•  Ensuring that dispatching strategies satisfy production goals by monitoring and advising Dispatchers on how to carry out these strategies.
•  Liaising and co-ordinating production and maintenance activities with Operations Foremen to minimize loss of production and/or reduction in mining efficiencies;
•  Coordinating and liaising with contractors in areas of responsibilities to ensure work standards are maintained and executed according to the agreed standards and requirements;
•  Executing or recommending improvement projects, and continuously provides feedback to operations staff and management on performance of assigned initiatives.

 

Minimum Qualifications

•  A recognized Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineeringy on (NQF Level 7) with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Mining engineering environment.

 

OR

•  A Three (3) Year National Higher Diploma in Mining Engineering on (NQF Level 6) with a minimum of five (7) years’ experience in Mining engineering environment.
•  A valid Code B driver’s licence.
•  A police certificate of conduct not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
