PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:  

The role ensures that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, remain compliant with regulatory requirements, and are available for operations as required. This position leads the fleet maintenance team, coordinates with suppliers and service providers, manages maintenance budgets, and supports optimal fleet utilization across all logistics functions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Grade 12 with a minimum 3-5 years of experience in fleet maintenance, preferably in FMCG or cold chain logistics.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Logistics, or a related field will be an added advantage.

 

KEY ACOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinate and monitor daily fleet operations, including scheduling and dispatching vehicles.
  • Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and serviced according to schedules.
  • Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and driver hours and performance.
  • Implement safety protocols and regulations to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare reports on fleet performance, expenses, and maintenance activities.
  • Negotiate and manage rates with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Communicate with drivers, coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth fleet operations.
  • Process cross-hire orders for new vehicle hires and generate charges within the invoicing system.
