Introduction:
A vacancy exists for a Geological Technician reporting to the Exploration Geologist within the Business Development Department. The successful incumbent will collect accurate geological and geotechnical data in the exploration areas for Geologists which will be used to establish from the series of tests and data analysis, the feasibility of developing orebodies. Key Performance Areas:
- Maintaining Health, Safety and Environment
- Maintain adequate levels of consumables and other project supplies.
- Geological data collection and weekly reporting.
- Geotechnical and Lithological core logging
- Responsible for Diamond drill core photography
- Diamond drill core and RC chip sampling
- Perform all field work related i.e Assist Geologists to coordinate and conduct all other field project work such as mapping, grab sampling.
- Monitoring of groundwater levels
- Arrange Diamond and RC drilling resources, logistics and site preparation.
Requirements and experience:
- Three (3) year National Diploma in geological/geotechnical studies or related field of studies.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ post qualification experience in a geological environment.
- Experience in Exploration as an added advantage.
- Code BE (08) driver’s license
