Job Description The Management Accountant supervises the work/job activities of staff members in the Section, co-ordinates and prepare the annual and supplementary budget for submission to the line Ministry for approval in lien with the Local Authorities Act, Financial Policy and IPSAS (International Financial Accounting Standards), control and monitors the budget, interrogate the financial performance of departments and highlights operations which are out and of control and advices on corrective action to be taken, provides management and performance reports to aid managerial decision making and manages the tariff structure of Council.
Key Performance Areas
    • Supervise the work/job activities of the staff members in the Section.
    • Prepare, monitor and control the Annual and Supplementary Budget of Council.
    • Oversee the Tariff structure of Council.
    • Analyse the Financial Performance and provide monthly, quarterly and annual management and other financial reports to Council.
    • Oversee the chart of accounts of Council as per the International Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
    • Ensure the completeness of transaction/Trail balance on a monthly basis in accordance with IPSAS (for management reporting).
    • Perform special assignment and other duties by divisional or Departmental head.
Skills, Experience & Education REQUIREMENTS: Honours Degree in Accounting or CIMA or CA/ACCA/CPA with five (5) years relevant job experience and a valid code B/BE drivers license.
