We have an opportunity available: An exciting opportunity exists for a Principal Advisor: Major Consumables, reporting to the Manager Supply Chain. The primary purpose of the role is to provide expert guidance and strategic direction in the procurement and management of critical consumables essential for the efficient and sustainable operation of the uranium mine, optimizing cost-effectiveness, ensuring a reliable supply chain, and enhancing operational efficiency and safety. Key Performance Areas:

  • Maintaining HSE standards with committment to reduce injuries and implement HSE improvement plans.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive strategies and creating presentations for key stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of the acid market to inform strategy decisions.
  • Conduct market tenders to select the most suitable suppliers.
  • Assess supplier proposals and capabilities for optimal decision-making.
  • Negotiate various crucial contract terms to secure advantageous agreements.
  • Finalize all essential contract documents in line with negotiated terms and agreements.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with relevant supplier personnel across different organizational levels.
  • Maintain meticulous records of significant interactions with suppliers, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of supplier dynamics.
  • Compile and provide relevant inputs for quarterly price forecasts, aiding in financial planning.
  • Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders involved in major consumables procurement.
  • Negotiate favourable pricing agreements with major consumables suppliers.
  • Propose and implement innovative ideas for better procurement outcomes.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 with 20 points.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a Commercial or Engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years working experience in a Commercially focused role, ideally in Procurement. Demonstrated experience in commodity buying, such as sulphur or sulphuric acid and any other key consumables
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence.
  • A Police certificate of conduct of not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
