PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Ensure efficient operations at Polana Pasta Manufacturers to achieve on-time, on-target and quality output through continuous problem-solving and improvement by identifying and addressing root causes and implementing preventive measures.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure production targets are met.
- Ensure breakdowns and equipment malfunctioning are attended to speedily by production and maintenance staff, assist where necessary.
- Continuously identify improvement opportunities and ensure their effective implementation.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance interventions with production requirements, in collaboration with the Foreman: Workshop and Controller: Administration.
- Continuously assess and improve the efficiencies of the production plant and processes.
- Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output.
- Accurately identifying training needs.
- Develop new and existing staff and continuously train staff where necessary.
- Generate and update work instructions and process documents as required.
- Assist Quality Assurance with the maintenance of the Quality Management and Food Safety systems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) (NQF 7) with 2-3 years relevant experience
OR
- Engineering Diploma (NQF 6) with 5 years relevant experience
OTHER
- Managerial experience will be advantageous
- Valid Namibian driver’s License
- Computer literate with a good mastering of the Microsoft Office suite
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Namibian citizen
- Must be willing and able to work shifts, weekends, call-outs, overtime and public holidays
- Knowledge of ISO, HACCP and Health and Safety standards will be advantageous
