PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The purpose of the role is to ensure the repair, maintenance, and monitoring of dairy equipment, including the UHT (Ultra Heat Treatment) Processing Plant, CIP Systems, and Fresh Processing Plant equipment. This involves adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and implementing corrective maintenance plans. Additionally, responsibilities include managing service level agreements within the dairy manufacturing plant. Furthermore, the role drives process optimization initiatives to minimize machinery breakdowns and ensure all equipment are fully operational to meet production targets at the required quality standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Maintain and repair Utility & Processing equipment cost-effectively.
- Implement preventative maintenance schedules and corrective maintenance plans to maintain equipment reliability and operational performance and continuity.
- Maintain and monitor the UHT Processing Plant, CIP Systems, and Fresh Processing Plant equipment to ensure operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Drive the implementation of corrective actions and preventive maintenance measures based on PMS feedback to optimize asset efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections and performance checks on Processing Equipment (UHT & Fresh Factory) to identify and address any issues proactively, minimizing the risk of equipment failure and downtime.
- Supervise water treatment processes, including softening and pH level adjustments, to ensure water quality meets operational standards and equipment requirements.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
- Monitor & calibrate automated control systems & system components including instrumentation.
- Advise and manage the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of processing equipment and infrastructure.
- Translate feedback from Plant Maintenance Schedules (PMS) into actionable plans to improve equipment reliability and performance – provide feedback to the Technical Maintenance Manager.
- Support all direct and indirect process automation projects across the factory.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to address technical issues promptly and effectively.
- Conduct benchmarking of maintenance KPIs and work practices against other plants in the group (or other external operations) and implement best practices.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings through energy efficiency improvements, process optimization, and maintenance strategies.
- Monitor utility consumption and implement measures to minimize waste and reduce operating costs.
- Handle technical claims and provide technical advice on processing claims to ensure cost mitigation.
- Collaborate with suppliers to address any service issues, negotiate contracts with Procurement support, and ensure timely delivery of parts and services to support operational needs.
- Execute asset management practices in accordance with the budget set by the Technical Maintenance Manager, prioritizing spending to maximize value and return on investment.
- Analyze SAP Weekly checklist data to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies, collaborating with Maintenance, Quality, and Processing Team Leaders to resolve issues.
- Generate work orders and reserve parts on SAP PM for both planned and unplanned maintenance activities on a day-to-day basis.
- Investigate and report on unresolved maintenance challenges, conducting root cause analysis to determine underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct formal routine inspections on equipment to ensure effectiveness (i.e., monitoring, identifying, and documenting).
- React swiftly to callouts and provide assistance to shift artisans and production personnel.
- Ensure that HMI parameter settings for plant equipment are maintained, updated, and backed up regularly to prevent data loss and facilitate quick recovery in case of system failures.
- Provide reports in accordance with the metrics agreed, accurately and timely for business decision making and continuous improvement.
- Implement an action plan by providing feedback on PMS (Plant Maintenance Schedules) & PLMS data.
- Ensure utility checklists are in place, recorded, and filed (soft and hard copies) for audit purposes.
- Monitor and document changes in calibration parameters to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
- Participate in all audits, and provide traceability reports to the crisis team.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:
- National diploma in electrical engineering/ Electrical Trade Certificate.
- A minimum of 5-8 years of working experience in an FMCG environment operating in a processing.
- Proven direct experience of 3-5 years working on Tetrapak processing equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of processing equipment, and PLC/HMI systems.
