An exciting opportunity exists for a Superintendent Metallurgy, PCC, and Laboratories. Reporting to the Manager Processing Operations. The primary purpose of this role is to provide technical and analytical support and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the processing plant by adopting and implementing appropriate process control philosophies and parameters to meet set production and efficiency targets and overall management of laboratory operations.


Key Performance Areas:

  • Maintaining HSE standards
  • Supervises and ensures that subordinates complete their tasks according to set plans, defines clear priorities to ensure production continuity.
  • Provide technical and operational support guidance to ensure planned process control efficiencies are achieved.
  • Provides leadership on all process control systems, including strategic/tactical planning, design, implementation, changes/upgrades, obsolescence management and support.
  • Implements critical process safety and control alarms and ensure adherence/compliance of process control centre personnel.
  • Accountable for the accurate and timeous laboratory analyses and reporting of samples from processing plant and mining.
  • Develops and document laboratory QAQC process/ manuals and ensure compliance.
  • To ensure optimisation of operational processes/ practices, methodology and technological applications.
  • Responsible and accountable to compile and manage major consumables and sectional budgets.
  • Identifies and formulate business plans for key capital projects that will improve throughput and process efficiencies in the plant.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 Certificate with 20 points and an E symbol in English.
  • A recognized Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Engineering Degree/Bachelor of Technology in Chemical/ Metallurgical/ Mineral Processing (NQF Level 7/8) OR
  • A recognized National Diploma in Chemical/ Metallurgical/ Mineral Processing (NQF Level 6)
  • Bachelor/ BEng/ B.Tech degree: A minimum of five (5) years working experience in a hydrometallurgical processing plant, of which three (3) years should be in a supervisory/specialised level.
  • National Diploma: A minimum of Ten (10) years working experience in a hydrometallurgical processing plant, which five (5) years should be in a supervisory/specialised level.
  • Code B drivers ‘licence and
  • A Police certificate of conduct of not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
