Purpose of the Job
The Principal Agro Processing Management Specialist will be responsible for the management of Abattoir and by products operations.
Key Performance Areas
- Analyse orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and evaluate production estimates and outputs.
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Control the number of livestock received and liaise with the Livestock and Livestock Products Board (LLPB) and Veterinary Services.
- Ensure a smooth flow of production and adherence to all standards, ensuring GMP’s are in place.
- Analyse all production-related budget variances and take corrective steps on all losses/discrepancies.
- Maintain the quality control program and ensure that all products meet acceptable standards and specifications.
- Ensure adherence to all quality control guidelines, including ISO, HACCP, and BRC standards.
- Handle final evaluations of enquiries about inferior production or customer complaints regarding producers.
- Compare operating results and performance against standards, budgets, and producers, correcting deviations.
- Plan all slaughtering/production activities with minimum manpower.
- Enforce safety and sanitation regulations and procedures.
- Ensure the proper use of safety devices/equipment, operating methods, and their maintenance.
- Coordinate actual and theoretical stock and take corrective actions where necessary.
- Oversee People Management and ensure SHEQ Compliance.
Competency and Skill Requirements
- Degree in Meat Technology or National Diploma in Production Management.
- 8 Years experience in meat processing industry of which three (3) years should be in a managerial capacity
- Must have excellent carcass dressing skills and carcass dressing knowledge-EU related
- Must have good knowledge of Animal Welfare practices
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques.
- Must be a Namibian Citizen with knowledge of the Namibian Labour Law.
