Principal Production Management Specialist – Meat Corporation of Namibia Ltd

Purpose of the Job

The Principal Production Management Specialist will be responsible for the management of deboning and dispatch processes of the Abattoir.

 

Key Performance Areas

  • Ensure that the daily production operation of the plant is in order.
  • Control the number of carcasses received and liaise with the Livestock and Livestock Products Board (LLPB) and Veterinary Services on allocations.
  • Ensure a smooth flow of production and adherence to all standards, ensuring GMP’s are in place.
  • Analyze all production-related budget variances and take corrective steps on all losses/discrepancies.
  • Enforce, monitor, and control all laid-down cost control principles and motivate employees to be cost-conscious.
  • Maintain the quality control program and ensure that all products meet acceptable standards regarding specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to all quality control guidelines, including ISO, HACCP, and BRC standards.
  • Interpret lab results, discuss implications, and take corrective steps.
  • Set job standards, devise effective training methods, train employees, and plan for efficient utilization of manpower.
  • Compare operating results and performance against standards, budgets, and procedures, correcting deviations.
  • Ensure the proper use of safety devices/equipment, operating methods, and their maintenance.
  • Coordinate actual and theoretical stock and take corrective actions where necessary.

Competency and Skill Requirements

  • Degree in Meat Technology or National Diploma in Production Management / Commerce (B.A or B.Com. degree will be an added advantage).
  • 5 Years experience in meat processing industry of which two (2) years should be in a managerial capacity.
  • Must have excellent training & butcher skills – EU related.
  • Must be a Namibian Citizen with knowledge of the Namibian Labour Law.
