MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To plan, organise and manage the business process, operations and activities of the centralized Accounts Payable (AP) function. Including the responsibility to develop, promote and initiate the AP system, and implement related AP decisions and/or policies, thereby ensuring internal control/governance in the complete matching and invoice processing cycle.
Key Performance Areas:
- Manage account payable functions including maintenance of general ledger suspense account, accounts payable, and project creditors accounting.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all accounts payable information and transactions.
- Structure the department and plan processes to ensure all invoices/payments are processed and executed.
- Review accounts payable documents prepared by subordinates for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to policy.
- Obtain and complete creditors’ statements prior to the pay run and prepare required payment requisition.
- Coordinate and produce all necessary statements and reports to enable accurate measurements of creditors as required.
- Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month-end information.
- Develop an understanding of the Swakop Uranium business domain and focus on best business practices.
- Act as liaison between the company and external Accountants to meet information needs and ensure proper information is maintained.
- Ensure management and vendors apply contracts correctly relating to payment terms.
Requirements and experience:
- Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Honours degree in Accounting (CTA) will be an added advantage.
- Professional Accounting/Membership: CIMA is an added advantage.
- 5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable environment, of which 2 years should have been in a Supervisory capacity.
- Understand and have working experience in Accounts Payable processes, VAT, and all other applicable tax laws.
- Sound analytical skills and supplier relations.
- Experience in the mining industry.
- Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
