PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Slaughtering of lamb carcasess for export quality. This is an on the line, slaughter floor position.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Skin sections of animals or whole animals.
  • Slit open, eviscerate, and trim carcasses of slaughtered animals.
  • Trim head meat, and sever or remove parts of animals’ heads or skulls.
  • Trim, clean, and/or cure animal hides.
  • Wrap dressed carcasses and/or meat cuts.
  • Tend assembly lines, performing a few of the many cuts needed to process a carcass.
  • Slaughter animals in accordance with specified religious standards (Halaal).
  • Cut, trim, skin, sort, and wash viscera of slaughtered animals to separate edible portions from offal.
  • Saw, split, or scribe carcasses into smaller portions to facilitate handling.
  • Sever jugular veins to drain blood and facilitate slaughtering.
  • Shackle hind legs of animals to raise them for slaughtering or skinning.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in abattoir slaughtering.

Purpose of Position

To control, execute and supervise all activities regarding the repair and maintenance of agricultural and dairy machines and implements to ensure the smooth running of all operations and maximum fleet availability on the farm.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • A 4-year Qualification in Diesel Mechanics with a trade certificate.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ mechanical repairs and maintenance experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance plan for all agricultural and dairy machines and implements.
  • Execute the preventative maintenance plan priorities for all vehicles, implements and equipment on a monthly basis.
  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance work on all agricultural and dairy machines and implements.
  • Receive job cards, plan daily work and assign work to subordinates.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To support the General Manager and Finance Manager at Farmers Meat Market (FMM) in Mariental as well as a dotted reporting line to Hartlief in Windhoek with reporting, controlling and other duties in the Finance Department.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Prepare monthly COGS reports as input to the final management accounting pack.
  • Oversee various financial functions by reviewing information received from the various functions, incorporating the information into reports that assists the business to make effective and efficient decisions.
  • Prepare, manage, review and execute timely and accurate monthly consolidated numbers and Business Performance Review reports for the company and submit by the agreed due dates.
  • Plan and complete all external and internal audits as per specifications.
  • Assist the Financial Manager in the interim and annual budgeting processes for the organization.
  • Review, manage, monitor and influence the process of cost control for the entire business, by guiding and advising Cost Centre controllers on new budgeting techniques, efficient planning and cost control.
  • Accountable for the high-level monitoring of project performance and expenditure.
  • Oversee that the SAP controlling month-end procedure is executed timely and accurately within agreed timelines.
  • Develop, improve and implement financial controls for the entire business by monitoring controls on a regular basis and ensuring proper financial controls are in place.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, e.g., Banks, Debtors, Creditors, NAMRA.
  • Prepare annual operating & CAPEX budget for the Company.

  • Prepare and assist with the application of capital budgeting, NPV, IRR, buy versus lease.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • B. Accounting Degree or 3-year Diploma in Accounting.
  • 3-5 years relevant working experience.
  • Knowledge of IRS and Namibian Taxation
  • Experience with SAP and Meat Matrix is advantageous.
  • Registration as CA / CIMA will also serve as an advantage.

Team Leader: Agronomy

Purpose of Position

To control, execute and supervise all activities regarding agronomy including; shed administration, crop and water management, care and maintenance of tractors and implements, stock management and people management in order to achieve the strategic initiatives of the division and critical success factors of the business.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • 3-year Degree in Agriculture specialized in Agronomy management.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working on a dairy farm or similar environment such as Agronomy.
  • Or an equivalent of 5-years working experience in Agronomy (without a formal qualification)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Receive, conduct quality checks, record and organise the stacking and distribution of seeds, fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides.
  • Operate agronomy tractors and implements as and when required.
  • Instruct subordinates on a daily basis according to work processes during soil preparation, planting, fertilising and pest control schedules, harvesting and transporting of harvest and manure.
  • Oversee the harvesting process and correctly record harvest freights against the specific field.
  • Apply stock rotation (FIFO) when receiving and dispatching stock.
  • Report low stock levels in advance and stock quality concerns immediately to ensure the required quality and stock levels are maintained.
  • Capture all usages as supplied to the fields, identify differences, investigate and report to the manager.
  • Supervise and direct subordinates according to work processes on a daily basis and provide on-the-job training to subordinates whenever required.
  • Check that all tractors, implements, and tools are cleaned, stored and securely parked to prevent damages and losses.

  • Grade 10

  • Competency on Artificial Insemination will be an added advantage.

  • Perform milk parlour duties regarding collecting and milking of cows in production.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • An Honours Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Agriculture specialized in Agronomy and Crop Sciences.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in Agronomy specifically on a Dairy farm, of which at least 3 years must have been in a managerial capacity.
  • Mechanical knowledge of tractors and attachments would be an added advantage.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Implement and manage the agronomy strategy in line with operational and strategic goals and objectives of the business unit.
  • Render agronomy management through the application of specialist knowledge on daily operations relating to soil improvement and water application through flood irrigation and centre pivots, cultivar selection, planting, weed and pest control, harvesting, management of all equipment and implements, people management, financial management, high-level reporting, and process improvement.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To manage the Finance department at Farmers Meat Market (FMM) in Mariental. Plan and execute the strategic management of the company by implementing strategic plans from management and support decision making to ensure best operating practices and profitable business.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage and maintain FMM Process Flows – functional areas such as production, inventory management, costing, product profitability and activity-based costing.
  • Set and administer standards and policies for internal control and monitor the key drivers.
  • Manage, review and execute timely and accurate monthly Business Performance Review reports for the company and submit by the agreed due dates.

  • Experience in the meat processing and manufacturing industry/FMCG will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge SAP/MeatMatrix proficiency.
  • Knowledge on Taxation.
