Job description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and optimise stopes based on drilling results as well as economic, operational and geotechnical factors for optimum reserve extra
- Design development and auxiliary infrastructure that supports optimum operations.
- Develop and update ore and waste rock dump designs.
- Plan, schedule, track, and coordinate long-term production schedules incorporating all related underground mining and support activities, including diamond drilling, blast schedules, advance rates, equipment availability, utilisation, backfill, dewatering, ground support, ventilation and construction.
- Identify and drive operational efficiencies.
- Guide contractor to achieve contractual and budget operations and safety targets.
- Compare actual excavations to design and identify deviations and causes and minimise these through appropriate interventions or design changes.
- Do weekly and monthly production reconciliations (design vs actual vs Budget) of operations and guide operations to achieve MTP and budget.
- Assist with the compilation of the operational budget.

Performing Grade Control tasks
• Plan drilling holes and drilling schedules, including overseeing the execution of the drilling schedules
• Participate in short and medium-term mine planning
• Ensure that drill patterns are properly marked out
• Ensure adequate drilling coverage of ore zones
• Log drill chipping and core into the database
• Ensure proper preparation of drilling sites before drilling commences
• Produce progress reports on the drilling process and schedule
• Analyse and interpret geological data using computer software such as MineSight and Leapfrog

Introduction
The purpose of this position is to supervise the collection of the grade control samples at the Reverse Circulation (RC) drill rig, split and sample diamond drill core and to ensure the chain of custody until delivery at the assay laboratory for analysis.
Job description
Sampling
- Supervise the effectiveness of the overall sampling process
- Ensure that diamond drill core is split and sampled as directed by the responsible grade control official
- Ensure proper handover/takeover of shifts by providing accurate and complete information on the previous shift
- Ensure that all sampling equipment is available and in good working order at the beginning of the shift
- Identify holes to be sampled before drilling commences
- Ensure the drilling area is barricaded to ensure that there is no external interference or unauthorised entry into the working area
- Ensure that the drilling site is prepared and cleaned before the equipment moves into the area
- Ensure that the sample is collected at the correct depth
- Ensure that the samples are stored in an orderly and sequential manner
Health, Safety and Environment
