PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To lead the processing team to execute the production plan effectively and efficiently by designing and communicating production schedules, monitoring quality standards in processing, and the overall supervision of processing lines, to ensure that production targets are achieved in line with good manufacturing practices and ISO standards.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Production Schedules

  • Obtain production plan from production scheduler.
  • Analyze the production plan and schedule operations according to the production time available.
  • Manage resources by checking the availability of machinery, manpower, and storage space for the incubation of products.
  • Liaise with the Warehouse team to ensure that all required raw materials per the production plan are available on time.
  • Identify potential shortcomings that could influence the execution of the production plan and resolve if possible or request support from the responsible parties.
  • Report and follow up on all technical malfunctions to the Maintenance/Engineering department.
  • Communicate and hand over daily production plan to the processing team for execution.
  • Continuously monitor and inspect processing lines during production to ensure efficiency, utilization, and effectiveness as well as adherence to schedule.

Quality Standards

  • Monitor the processing process during production and take corrective action where quality standards of packaging and products are not adhered to.
  • Inspect, analyze, and sign off periodic quality checks that are performed and recorded by the machine Operator.
  • Review all previous shift documentation during handover.

Administrative Duties

  • Lead the shift handover meetings to ensure the correct flow of information.
  • Record all shift-related data on the relevant documents (downtime tracking, counters recordings, etc).
  • Complete supervisory check sheets and immediately act if parameters are not within specifications.
  • Record actual production to plan on relevant documents on a shift basis.
  • Record and report all safety incidents and complete the required documentation.
  • Perform daily stock counts of finished goods and record on the stock count sheet while on shift.

Line Management Functions

  • Manage direct reporting staff performance and development through probation and performance discussions.
  • Coach and mentor direct reporting staff.
  • Identify training requirements as well as the development potential of staff.
  • Discipline staff according to the Employee Relations Policy.
  • Schedule and conduct weekly operational meetings with subordinates.
  • Approve and control leave applications of reporting staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • A National Diploma in Production Processing, Operations Management, or Food Science or a Technical Trade.
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a food processing and packaging environment (FMCG).
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Supervisory role
