MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To assist with effective start-up activities of plant / process optimization and provide technical support to Swakop Uranium’s (SU) extensive plant operations. The position will also be responsible for achieving safe, low cost, optimal availability, performance of resources and efficient plant operations.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Monitor, analyse and investigate the technical performance of the metallurgical process and report findings and recommendations..
  • Ensure effective process and quality control.
  • Ensure effective plant efficiency, quality control, cost control and optimization.
  • Ensure optimization and utilization of physical assets.
  • Execute the plant processing schedules.
  • Execute input requirements to meet output quantity, quality and timing specifications.
  • Attend to emergency technical upsets in the plant.
  • Conduct root-cause-analysis of process upsets.
  • Determine, verify and account for recovery of product output by using Metallurgical Accounting methodologies.
  • Provide a Metallurgical sampling, testing, calibration and process control servic
  • Conduct and validate test results and generate reports.

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12
  • B. Sc / B. Tech degree in Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ Technical / Operational experience in Hydrometallurgical processing plant.
  • Must have successfully completed a graduate development programme in Metallurgy.
  • Uranium processing experience will be an added advantage.
  • Plant commissioning, ramp-up & optimization experience will be an added advantage.
  • Project delivery and project management experience in the field of process development for mining projects.
  • Valid Code 08 Drivers License.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To coordinate, protect and enhance the Company and surrounding environment regarding bio-diversity and biophysical monitoring, and to promote awareness and understanding amongst relevant stakeholders.

 

Key Performance Areas:

  • Draft, oversee and implement the Company Biodiversity Action Plan(s) (CBAP) to monitor key bio-diversity indicators and highlight any mitigation measures.
  • Oversee and implement the required restoration and rehabilitation trails in line with the Company Mine Closure Plan objectives.
  • Coordinate bio-diversity assessment, planning, implementation and capacity building for programs to enhance bio-diversity protection, including habitat management.
  • Incorporate bio-diversity into phases of the mining life cycle, in order to assess and measure the impacts of mining operations on bio-diversity and to improve bio-diversity checks in the mining life cycle and add value to the project as a whole, by means of bio-diversity risk reduction and / or mitigation.
  • Implement a plan for mine closure rehabilitation/restoration strategy and to acquire the resources to conduct the required test trials.
  • Provide technical/specialist guidance for scoping / impact assessments / land clearances with responsibility of collecting, analyzing and reporting biological / bio-diversity data.
  • Establish and oversee the GIS database and include GIS in the mining life cycle as part of the environment management system.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis and prepare detailed reports, relating to achieving desirable results for bio-diversity.
  • Management of bio-diversity impacts through the enforcement of legislative compliance and planning for bio-diversity development process.
  • Implement environmental control and audit systems.
  • Coordinate and execute the environmental biodiversity and biophysical monitoring programmes.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on the bio-physical monitoring databases.

Introduction:

An Internal vacancy exists for Foreman processing operations in the Tailings Dam section within the processing operations department reporting to the Superintendent Tailings Dam and Water Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all work activities within a production environment are appropriately coordinated, delegated, controlled and executed according to the RUL policies, procedures and standard work instructions.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
